“You’ve gotta open up your heart and your mind to accept these things. To be receptive. When the experience comes to you, you’ve got to be able to have the freedom to absorb the experience. You have to believe that you can be inspired.”

Podcast Synopsis

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Ashley Saunders during my time in Bimini and I had the good fortune of him showing me around the Dolphin House. Ashley told me about his life and how everything changed after he swam with a group of wild dolphins. Since then he began building this Dolphin House (or Poetry In Stone) 26 years ago and he is still building it. Ashley has dedicated his life to creating the house in honor of the dolphins that he swam with.

Everything in the house is recycled (as you can see in the image at the top of the article) that Ashley has collected from houses, churches, material from the beach or street and the dump. Because of the things he has found and been given by the community, every item in the house has a story, thus the name Poetry In Stone.

If you are interested at all in the house you can watch this video below and you can go to Alice Town and check him out. It’s located on Dolphin Lane, telephone 242.347.3201 and you can visit HERE. The house is open for tours Monday through Saturday 10am-6pm.
