Hunter Bland - Accident To Advocate For Water Safety

Hunter Bland was a college bass fisherman who has recently moved on to become a Bass Fishing Coach. We learned a little about Hunter a few weeks ago when he was on the podcast with the whole Florida Gateway College team but today we dive deep into his personal story. Hunter achieved some notoriety, but not in the most desirable way. He was ejected out of his boat due to a freak accident and he was lucky enough to not get run over by any boats during the start of a Bass Tournament. He was wearing his lifejacket so he made it out ok. Hunter is now using that experience to travel around to speak and educate people on water safety.

Destiny - Where Your Character Leads You - Tom Rowland Podcast

In part 6 of a 6 part series on the Lao Tzu quote:

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”

There is an example of character becoming destiny - imagine two boats. They are maybe in a race or setting out from the same port, and they look like they are going in the same direction. But they are a couple degrees off, and over time the boats start to get further and further away until they are out of sight. After enough time the two boats will end up in very different places.

That is what this is about - the small changes that you make in your thoughts, words and habits will make huge differences in your character and your destiny.

I gave them to my children, friends and people I work with. Each of the recipients have as impressed with them as I was.

We also had some other interests in common. Joshua recently returned from an Inner Mountain Expeditions in Norway to learn more about the Wim Hof Method and much more.

Mark The Shark - The Darth Vader of Sport Fishing

I have followed Mark Quartiano who is better known as Mark The Shark for a couple of years. To say that Mark is controversial is an understatement. Mark seems to relish the role as the bad boy of Sportfishing and referred to himself as the Darth Vader of Sportfishing. This was interesting to me because he also seems to have a lot of contrary opinions and actions to being the badboy. For example, Mark has no problem killing big sharks and posting the pictures on Instagram, however after talking to him for a while I also learned that he has tagged and released more sharks than anyone in the world. Many of the sharks are sent to biologists or delivered to the local homeless shelter.
