Ray Cash Care - Former Navy SEAL, Lead Instructor MDK Project, Pushup MASTER 1320 in an hour - EPISODE #600

Ray Cash Care is a former Navy Seal, Actor, Lead Instructor at the Modern Day Knight Project with Bedros Keuilian and PUSHUP MASTER who does 1320 pushups in an hour! Ray joins me on today’s podcast to discuss the mindset of an elite military operator both in and out of service. Ray goes through many of his acronyms that he lives by which lead to his success and how we can all apply some or all of it to our lives. Ray gets after it and makes the most of every minute. He is grateful and thankful and does not rest. He is 50 years old and in better shape than most people of any age because he is constantly sharpening his blade. Just as an example, Ray does 6320 pushups every week. That is 1000 per day and then 1320 on Saturdays with his Instagram community. 1320 is an important number because that represents the 22 veterans and First Responders who commit suicide per day. He does 22 pushups every minute on the minute for 60 minutes.

If you want to get after it like Ray you can be coached by him. Follow him on Instagram @raycashcare. Tell him you heard this podcast ! He said that he responds to every direct message.

Capt. Joe Gonzalez - In Memory Of This Legendary Guide - EPISODE #585

This week we will honor the life and legacy of Capt. Joe Gonzalez who recently passed away by replaying the 2 podcasts that I was fortunate enough to do with him.

Today we will replay the full length interview with Joe recorded from his home in Little Havana surrounded by his family. Joe’s enthusiasm was infectious and his knowledge broad and specific. I was so happy to have him on the podcast because he was on the original short list of legendary fishermen that I wanted to sit down with.

Whatever industry you may be in, it is common to hear of the legends. Those people whose name continues to surface in conversations with other customers or competitors. In the inshore fishing business, Capt. Joe Gonzalez is one of those people. Despite working 150 miles away from one another, I heard Joe's name and stories on the regular. His reputation preceded him as a professional who might actually have some Bonefish DNA mixed in with his.

Many have said that Joe knows all the bonefish in Biscayne Bay. This may be true but that is not what makes a great reputation. There is much more to becoming a legendary Captain. Like most of the legends I know, Joe stayed curious and sought to learn more about all things fishing in order to continue to improve.

The sportfishing industry, Biscayne Bay, the clients, friends and family of Joe Gonzalez lost a great one recently. Thank you for the influence you had over so many of us, Joe. You were one of a kind. Im thankful to have known you and I wish the very best for your family. RIP Capt. Joe Gonzalez

Capt. Paul Tejera - Legendary Fishing Guide, Real Estate, Tennis, And Always Smiling

My old friend Paul Tejera joins the podcast this week to talk about his guiding career, and to catch up.

Paul is a legendary Florida Keys Guide and someone who I paid very close attention to as I started my tournament career. With not only a remarkable tournament resume including Guide to the grand champion in the Golden Fly Tarpon Tournament and Poor Boys Tarpon Tournament on four occasions. He has also been guide to the grand champion angler in the Gold Cup and Don Hawley Tarpon Tournaments, the Spring Fly Bonefish Tournament, Redbone Celebrity Tournament, Spring All-Tackle Bonefish Tournament and a Best of the West Fly Casting Champion. We share the title of the Best of the West Fly Casting and discussed how saltwater techniques can work well with a 5 weight rod.

Paul did all of this with a big smile on his face throughout his tournament and guiding career. This is what I paid attention to. Tournaments for me were full of anxiety, nerves, strategy and I could never get away from having my game face on months before and throughout a tournament. Paul managed to not only win but to do it with a smile, a laugh and all while having a good time. I wanted to emulate that.

We talk about having to fire clients, transitioning into a second career, picking up Tennis after a long layoff and becoming one of the best players in his age group in the very competitive State of Florida. Being active and being a good tennis player in your 50s does not come easy so we talk fitness, stretching and longevity in the fishing game as well.
