Kyle Shares His Story

Tom,

I started listening to your podcast a few months ago and have fallen in love with it. The format, the quality and the content are all top-notch. All that said, I listened to the recent "Men in the Arena" podcast and felt compelled to contact you.
As an avid hunter and angler, I found the content fascinating as usual, but more than anything, I was impressed with those two kids and the clear vision and solid foundation they have at such a young age. They are a lot farther along than guys twice their senior in terms of courage, confidence, and conviction. Their eagerness to learn is a rare trait these days and furthermore, their willingness to forge their own path and follow "the call" is even more unique.

I am raising three young boys (2, 3, and 4) and it's amazingly rewarding. It's also unbelivably challenging, especially when considering how much the world has changed in the past few decades. I fight daily to impart adventure, imagination, compassion and love on their lives every day. I say fight because it seems like nearly everything about our culture these days tries to subdue those qualities. I am currently on my second reading of a book by John Eldridge called "Wild at Heart". I strongly recommend it. In short, it's about man's nature and how 1) they are built to fight for something, and 2) they are built for exploratoin and adventure as a reflection of the heart of God.

I know you're busy, but wanted to take a minute to thank you for your podcast and congratulate you for doing an amazing job raising boys. I know you are proud.
I did want to see if you had any words of wisdom or advice for raising boys and instilling courage, confidence and a love for the outdoors.

Thanks and God Bless,

Kyle
