“ First of all, don’t have any expectations… Have no expectations, do your homework, go to the best place at the best time and  get the best guide and do all the work necessary…”

Podcast Synopsis

In this How 2 Tuesday episode, I discuss managing expectations for fishing and hunting. As a guide, it is important to set the expectations to my client, and letting them know the realistic outcomes for when they’re out on the water. Because there are so many factors that are out of your control, like the weather, it’s best to have little to no expectations.

The strategic thing to do when planning your hunting/fishing trip is to do as much research as you can. Search for the best guide in your desired location, and talk to people who have gone on these trips. Learn when the best time of year it is to hunt/fish for what you want, and always continue to practice whenever you can.

My last piece of advice is to be completely prepared for your upcoming trip. That includes being fit, have boots broken in, everything dialed and set to your exact specifications, etc. If the stars line up for you, have everything in your power managed before embarking on your trip, and you will have a better outcome every time. More than anything else, don’t have any expectations, Do the work, and hope for the best, but be perfectly prepared for the best to happen.

See you on the water,
